Second Annual MKPC Planning Event
The Orris Cottage near Port Sanilac, Michigan
Coffee 9:00AM - Start Time 9:30AM Saturday
For the second year Gil & Sharon Orris opened their cottage for a fun and exciting weekend. Located about 40 miles north of Port Huron, sessions to plan the 2008 club events were held in a gazebo built in the middle of a 150' x 60' koi pond.
The club supplied refreshments throughout the day including a picnic lunch with hot dogs and chips. An evening potluck supper was supplimented by grilled burgers, chili and sweet corn cooked over a campfire. For those able to spend the night, there were more hot dogs and s'mores around the campfire in the evening.
Members had time to enjoy the koi in the natural bottomed pond, puzzels and a horseshoe pit. There were also miles of walking trails through the 45 acres of woods offering plenty of wildlife for viewing. For campers there were available electrical hookups and space for tents, trailers and motorhomes. Several bed & breakfasts and motels were nearby as well. As an added incentive the first ten members to make reservations for the event got a complimentary gas card worth $20.
The event itself allowed the club leadership to create an entire calendar for 2008.
